The Placement
In many cases this is the first time the teacher has lived in a different country. Life in Korea is very different from life at home and many teachers may initially feel unsettled and isolated. They may be experiencing ‘culture shock’ and many will be homesick. On arrival please try to make the teacher feel at home and introduce the teacher to his or her surroundings. Many teachers have never taught before and will need some guidance and reassurance before entering the classroom.
As soon as the teacher has his or her alien registration card please help them open a bank account and register them with a doctor. Many teachers are concerned about sending their original degree certificate to Korea so please take care of it and give it back to the teacher when they arrive in Korea.
Please try to observe and assess the teachers’ classes periodically. Giving feedback to the teacher is essential. If the teacher is doing a good job let them know. If there are areas that he or she can improve on please let them know so they can work on those areas. Please feel free to contact us at any time with any questions or if we can be of assistance.
