Here at Flying Cows candidates often ask if they should take a TEFL course before they teach in Korea. The answer is not as straight forward as you may think. Schools in Korea do not require you to have a TEFL qualification. However, undertaking a TEFL course can not only improve your teaching ability and give you confidence it will also improve your chances of securing a teaching placement.

Choosing a TEFL course can be confusing. We have over the years helped our teachers choose courses that suit their needs. However, for 2009 we thought it was about time we provided our own! We have teamed up with The London Teacher Training College (LTTC) and are proud to offer you two on-line TEFL course options designed to help you most.

TEFL Option One

The LTTC Certificate in TEFL 60 hour TEFL Certificate is designed to give you an introduction to the wonderful world of TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language). This initial qualification is based on the syllabus of the full Diploma in TESOL but can be completed in as little as 10 days. On completion of this course you will be presented with the LTTC TEFL certificate.

Cost: £175 (Introductory Price £160 if you sign up before April 2009)

TEFL Option Two

The Accredited - LTTC Certificate in TEFL 120 hour TEFL Certificate is a internationally recognised TEFL Qualification. This course is Aset accredited and covers an extended syllabus. It is ideal for people who would like to gain a professional qualification in TEFL. This qualification is internationally recognised.

Cost: £285 (Introductory Price £260 if you sign up before April 2009)


What Makes Our Courses Different?

  • Both Courses are specifically designed to meet your needs and include an optional module based on life as a teacher in South Korea. While you are not assessed on this module it will provide you with a valuable insight into living and working in Korea and to teaching Korean students. This module includes introductions to the Korean language, culture and teaching environment.
  • There are no time limits. Our courses can be completed at your own pace in your own time.
  • You are assigned a personal tutor as soon as you enrol. Your tutor will give you help and guidance throughout the course as well as mark your assignments and give you personal feedback.
  • As soon as you enrol you are given free membership to www.teachitworld.com where you can access over 10,000 pages of lesson plans and materials.
  • You are also given free membership to the association of on-line teachers.
