Visa Application

Once you have accepted a position you are required to apply for an E2 Teaching Visa.  The visa process can be confusing but don't worry - your FCC rep will be on hand to guide you through each stage.

Stage One

Send the following to your new employer in Korea:

  1. Your original degree or a notarised copy of your degree (for details of how to obtain a notarised copy of your degree please contact your nearest Korean embassy)
  2. A copy of your university transcripts. Transcripts are lists of the courses you completed at university and the grades you received. You must ask you university to mail you a copy of your transcripts. It is vitally important that you do not open the envelope the transcripts arrive in. They must be sent to Korea in the sealed envelope from your university.
  3. Your current cv/resume
  4. Four passport photos
  5. A photocopy of the photo page of your passport
  6. The signed contract from the school

It is advisable to use a courier with a tracking service to send these documents. UK applicants are eligible for a discount on courier costs. Ask your FCC rep for details.

Stage Two

Your employer will have your documents processed by the Korean Immigration Office in Korea. This will take approximately ten days. When your documents have been processed your FCC rep will email you your Visa Issuance Number.

As soon as you have your Visa Issuance Number the following must be taken or sent to your nearest Korean Embassy:

  1. Number of Certificate for confirmation of visa issuance issued by the Ministry of Justice in Korea (Visa Issuance Number)
  2. Passport
  3. Completed application form with one photograph affixed
  4. Visa Fee: UK - £27.50 (Payable to : the Korean Embassy either by cash or by postal order. (Cheques are not accepted).
