Michelle ConnorThe service I received from Flying Cows was very friendly and good contact was kept. Our consultant had a good knowledge of teaching in Korea due to her own experiences of teaching there over several years and was able to answer any questions we had about what to expect. I went to teach in Korea with a friend and our consultant was very helpful in finding us a school with a placement for two people (this can be a tricky thing as most schools generally only have single placements). Once the school was found our consultant was very efficient in looking into the contract and contacting the current English teacher in order for us to find out about the quality of the school. We have not been disappointed. Our flight out to Korea was arranged so that we would be traveling with several other people also flying out to teach English and one of them happened to be located in a town near to our own and so we have met up regularly on weekends. I would definitely recommend FCC.

Flying cows were friendly, approachable and down to earth throughout the process of moving to Korea, from their initial application form to job interviews to booking a flight. No nonsense, just calm, helpful advice throughout. Thanks!

Moving to Korea is a huge life change, but Flying Cows made my transition convenient and stress-free.  From the moment I decided to take the leap and until I actually stepped foot in Korea, I was assisted by a Flying Cows representative.  My school placement has been better than I expected, and I look forward to the memories I will make this year.  Thanks Flying Cows!

We're having a great time, and I truly thank you for all of your help.  I couldn't have done it without you!

I initially began to use a Korean agency to find myself a job teaching in Korea.  This turned out to be very stressful and difficult because of the language barrier.  It was like a breath of fresh air when I found Flying Cows as they were really down to earth and I felt as though I could ask them anything.  My school is wonderful and I am staying in a lovely apartment.  I still get emails from Flying Cows checking if I'm ok which is reassuring!

We used Flying Cows to organise our job in South Korea and the service that was provided made our experience a lot smoother and less stressful than it could have been. I would highly recommend the service to anyone considering working abroad

I'm having a great time out in South Korea. The service I recieved from Flying Cows made the whole process of finding a job and getting a visa much less intimidating. The staff are very friendly, kept me well informed and were always available to answer any questions I had.

Christina James

Flying Cows were incredibly helpful in setting up my job in Korea.  They answered any questions I had about the visa process or Korea, and were always willing to alleviate any worries I had.  They were open, honest and flexible about finding the right job for me, and were highly attentive.  Their service was invaluable throughout my move to Korea.

Alex Ellis

Flying Cows were very helpful throughout every stage from initial enquiries back in England  to ongoing support of their teachers out here in Korea.  The staff have spent long periods in Korea and could answer any queries.  They have solid links with good schools in Korea and take an active interest in their teachers, again from recruitment to their day to day life in Korea.  They are now even interested in sponsoring our teachers football team out here.

Charlene Murphy

Flying Cows are definitely the best agency to use if you're going to teach in South Korea. I found dealing with them entirely hassle free and I really felt like I was being taken care of. Nothing can prepare you for the culture shock and moving here was quite daunting, but Flying Cows regularly check to see how things are going and that really helps. They made the transition so much easier and they really look after you.

I'm not sure what you mean by testimonial. But Ithought the service from Flying Cows was excellent. It was very easy to get in contact with you and you were very quick to reply to emails and texts. I thought that the interview tips you sent were very useful and I was able to find the first job in Sonpa very quickly. When it went wrong you were very quick to get me a lot more interviews and I felt I had a choice in where I wanted to work. I know that the girls from America no longer recieve any contact from the service that sent them here and Flying Cows is really good at keeping in touch even after the teachers arrive in Korea.

I graduated from University and I had planned to spend a year or so travelling, However, 3 months down the line I found myself pennyless on a homeward flight to heathrow. I got back and started looking for jobs to save up and I saw an advert for Teaching in Korea, I was a bit dubious at first, what with the whole flying to a far away place and commiting to a spending a year in a country i have never been to, besides, the deal seemed a little too good to be true, free accomodation, a decent salary and such a short working week. I decided to send off an email to Flying Cows anyway, and within hours I heard back from them, both Kate and Amanda have a lot of experience, as both teachers and as recruiters, and they said they would give me as much advice as i wanted. They gave me no pressure, impartial advice on both the Pro's and con's of Korea. Well, what can you say? 5 weeks later my plane landed in Seoul. That was 6 months ago. Flying cows were as good as their word. Not a single problem, paid right on time every month, good accomodation, and a 25 hour working week!

Flying Cows provided fantastic support and assistance; from the moment I contacted them with the intention of becoming an English teacher in Korea, right through to hooking me up with some mates to meet up with on arrival.  I’d spent a busy summer travelling around the UK, often without a phone signal and usually without any Internet access.  Whenever I did find my way to civilisation, Amanda and Katie were always on hand with options and next steps.  They made sense of the whole process of dealing with the various necessary bureaucracies, which otherwise would have proved to be a much more lengthy process.
Thanks guys.

I decided about 6 months before graduation that I wanted to do some more travelling, but at the same time make some money and get some real work experience. I looked at a lot of gap year programmes but for the most part you have to pay to volunteer somewhere which was not a viable option for me. Teaching abroad therefore seemed like the way forward so I started looking at programmes for teaching in Japan, Singapore and China. After searching around the internet I came across Flying Cows and their description of teaching in South Korea. I had not heard of anyone going to teach in Korea at that point and their set up seemed different from most of the other programmes I had been looking at; rather than be at the mercy of the recruiters Flying Cows puts up your information on their website where recruiters can browse around, yet you are never obliged to take any offer that is given. Rather you are the one making the decision about what job you take.

Over the following months I found flying cows to be so much more helpful and approachable than the people from the other programmes I was corresponding with. Anytime I wanted to I could call them up and they would be happy to fill me in about the job and life in Korea. Most importantly they were straight with me about what the situation was and whether I had a job or not, no waiting lists or anything like that. They also put me in touch with teachers who they had helped place at the school I was going to who were incredibly helpful and very honest about their experiences.

Flying Cows were also really good at helping me organise my documents and getting the visa process sorted out, as well as letting me know what to expect from their own first hand experiences teaching in Korea. I now am going into my fourth week teaching at Ding Ding Dang in Daegu, I am enjoying the job and I have met a great group of people and so far had some pretty wild adventures surfing, camping, rafting and partying down town. It’s been amazing and it has only just begun!

I first met a flying cows representative at a graduates job fair in Sheffield, my original plan was to go back to Australia and work over there but having spoken to (Kate? I think) who was so passionate about her time in Korea I changed my plans and sent an application to the flying cows team. The application progress was simple and easy and the team replied quickly and efficiently to any questions or concerns that I had. Currently I am working in Dae-gu, South Korea, a job which the flying cows team found for me, I found their service pleasant, friendly and effective, they guided me through the visa process, answered any questions regarding my contract that I had and regularly checked up upon my progress with the paperwork. In korea they ensured there was someone to meet me at my destination and offered assistance with any travel queries. All in all I am more than happy with the service they provided and am currently living my dream to travel and teach abroad.

Flying cows offered friendly and honest advice which made moving to the other side of the world an uncomplicated and enjoyable process. Staff members are more than happy to share their own personal experiences of teaching in Korea which really helps prepare you for what could be a rather daunting process. Flying Cows were brilliant at answering the many questions I had before I left, they offered advise when applying for visa's and arranged airport pick ups on arrival which made the entire process simple with minimum stress!

I would highly recommend both Flying Cows and teaching in Korea, it is a truely amazing experience which is suprisingly easy to arrange and extremely beneficial in many ways.

I was glad I found Flying Cows and decided to use their services as they turned what could have been a daunting task into an easy one as I was taken step by step through to the finish. I had a number of small problems but they were resolved and they made sure the right school was found for me, which is exactly where I am. They were always friendly and any questions I had were answered within 24hrs. I would recommend not only coming to Korea but to use the excellent services provided by Flying Cows. Ive only been in Korea for 1 month but the people are really friendly and settling in was very easy. The culture shock isnt as bad as you think it may be and is actually more enjoyable than scary.

Flying Cows made finding a job in Seoul easy and hassle free. Easy to talk to and always helpful i would recommend Flying Cow to any one who is looking to teach in Korea. Quick to respond to questions and queries, by the end of the process I thought of Flying Cow as friends rather than a Consultancy - Thank you FC!

Never in my wildest dreams did I think going out to teach in South Korea was on my agenda after leaving uni. I didn't know such opportunities existed, and thought the process of actually getting there would be a long and drawn out procedure. I also didn't think I had the necessary qualifications with a BA Hons degree. Thankfully, a friend recommended me to Flying Cows, and I haven't looked back since. No less than just over a month after registering on the site I was recieving offers from Korean schools all over the place! The Visa procedure was laid out so easily to understand, and a Flying Cows rep was only ever a phone call away if there was any problems or niggling concerns to iron out. What i was most thankful for was that every time I called the representatives they were so helpful and seemed genuinley pleased to hear from me. I would recommend Flying Cows to anyone who wants to do something different, unique and great fun with their lives. They make it astonishingly simple to go and experience a diverse and exciting culture and earn money doing it! Flying Cows will really work hard for you if you want to do this and they guide you through every part step by step, I could not recommend them any more highly.

When my wife and I decided to come to South Korea, we were hit by a minefield of choices; which area to look for, what to look for in a contract, hours of working and so forth. Happily, our recruitment agents, Flying Cows made it quite easy for us.

Flying Cows really helped us out with getting a job here in South Korea. We had looked on Dave’s ESL café for job vacancies but we didn’t know which schools were good schools and which ones might take you for a ride. Flying Cows were professional yet friendly, and their workshop that we attended in the UK was very useful – I think one of the maps they gave us of Seoul I’m still using; 5 months later! Flying Cows will help you find an area you want to live in, whether it is in the bustling city of Seoul or one of the quieter areas for those of you that prefer hiking. Most importantly, they will make sure your contract is sound and vet the school so you know that you won’t end up in a bad one which will take advantage of you.

When we arrived in South Korea, Amanda sent us an email to check everything was ok. Our apartment was spotless, brand new, although some other guys we have met have had better apartments whilst some have been slightly more dated. It is a blessing to have the internet in your apartment – everyone I know here in Chuncheon has arrived to find the internet up and running; you just pay a monthly fee thrown in to your utility bill. Skype is probably the best thing to use to keep in contact – set it up on your laptop before coming over. It works out at just over 1p a minute to landlines. You can buy laptops here quite cheaply but it will have the Korean version of Windows.

So what’s it like here in Korea? Well, the standard of living here is good. I’m on less pay than I was in the UK, but because of free rent and the cheap prices of food and drink, we can pretty much do what we want and when we want. You can find pretty much everything you need out here, from deodorant (no famous brands though), shampoo, shower gel and tampons (a bit expensive). Razors and shaving foam also in good supply. You can also buy bread and cheese here, pain killers and so on (our pharmacy has two English speaking employees, and the doctors also speak English). The things that we haven’t found include blonde hair dye and proper British gravy granules! For the girls, you might want to bring plenty of mascara and sanitary products and for the lads, some aftershave as they don’t seem to have any designer fragrances over here. We also benefited from bringing a King Size sheet for our western style bed as they don’t seem to use them and you just sleep on a matt on the mattress. If your director asks you if you want a Korean or Western style bed – go for the western one as a Korean bed is a mat on the floor!

The school that we work in is really nice, and the staff are very friendly. Our working hours are between 2.40 till 10.30 depending on which day, sometimes starting at 2.40 and finishing at 10.30 with an hour off, others starting at 3.30 and finishing at 9.00. We also have to spend time preparing our lessons, filling in answers to the text books etc so it means a bit more time devoted to work before you actually start. You do get used to working these hours, on the downside you finish late but on the plus side you get to sleep in if you have been out for a heavy night the night before! You’ll probably find that the bars are open till you want to leave, although you usually have to buy something to eat such as a plate of snacks when you enter.

Money wise – Korea is cheap. You can have a meal for two for £10-15 including beers, and if there are a few of you, it can be about £3! There are the more expensive western places to go to as well where a steak will set you back £15 each. Then there are of course McDonalds, KFC and Burger King. Subway too. Beer is about £1.50 for 500cl (they don’t do pints out here), a vodka and coke is £3.00 and a bottle of vodka in the supermarket is £3.50. There are cinemas over here that show some English films with Korean subtitles for about £3.50 a ticket. The only things that don’t seem to be cheap are beef and vegetables in the supermarket, however, we find that we have managed to save about £500 a month from our wages – about half – and that’s each.

Are there any downsides to living in Korea? Well, the language barrier is certainly a huge one. You have to be prepared to learn some of the language, the alphabet and some key phrases; ‘a draught beer please’ is always good to know! Also, I must admit that we both have been homesick a few times since we have been here, mainly it hits you after the first month when you realise it’s not a holiday. After that it starts to click because the friends you meet become your sanity life line – especially if you come alone.

So is Korea for you? If you are fed up of the 9.00 – 5.00 grind; the constantly soggy weather in the UK; want to meet new people from around the world; experience life submersed completely in a different culture; work with kids and save a lot of money, then you’ll be well suited here!

Myself and a friend both used Flying Cows to help us secure job placements in South Korea. Throughout the process, everyone I dealt with at FC was helpful, professional and offered honest advice on every issue I had questions on, from the visa application process to Korean food! I would urge anyone considering teaching in South Korea to DO IT, and use Flying Cows to get you here.

Emma Thompson

Flying Cows was mentioned to me by a girl on my CELTA course whose friend had used them and said they were great. I wanted to come to Korea and had actually approached three different agents. One lost all my details and the other said what I was looking (teaching adults) for was impossible.

Amanda at Flying Cows personally called several schools in Daegu asking about the ages of students and types of teaching.

Amanda found me a great school where I am really happy. She liased with the school making sure all the flights and visas were organised. She negotiated through salary and contract details and housing really leaving me with nothing to do but pack and send off the information.

I really appreciate all the work Flying Cows put in to getting me to South Korea and am really happy with the service and my school.

Thank you Flying Cows.
