Supporting Information
Why do you want to teach overseas?:
I am currently studying in South Korea, and I have fallen in love with it. There is real interest from the Korean people to learn about the outside world and become global citizens, and learning English could be a great opportunity for them to accomplish this goal. I would be more than happy to help them in their learning journey, while staying in the wonderful country that is South Korea.
Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:
I already live here in South Korea, so the cultural differences are already known to me. I have some experience teaching through the Army Cadets, where I learned to make lesson plans, give constructive feedback, pay attention to individual strengths and weaknesses of the students and myself, and tweak my teaching methods as necessary. As a native English and French speaker raised in a bilingual country, I can empathize with the struggle of learning a language, as many were not so lucky to learn both at an early age. Thus, I have some insight on what works and what does not, or what to prioritize when teaching someone to speak a certain language.
