Supporting Information
Why do you want to teach overseas?:
I am an ardent lover of the English language. While pursuing a degree in English at Florida State University, I cultivated a great reputation among peers and professors for my mastery of the English language. As an apprentice decorator, my managers praise my cooperative and engaging personality. I believe that cultural exchange, including foreign language instruction, enriches our lives and strengthens us in every way possible. I think that the exchange of languages is the most powerful means of achieving mutual understanding across cultures and the best method of learning all that we can from one another.
Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:
Since November 2016, I've worked as a Native Speaker Teacher with The Forest English School in Okdong, Ulsan. At our academy, I teach English to elementary and middle school students from the ages of 7 to 15. My job duties include interviewing potential students in order to assess their English skill level and advise their placement in appropriate classes, creating lesson plans and instructing classes based on course materials such as listening, reading and speaking books, and producing comprehensive oral final exams with diverse question types based on the target language and vocabulary from all of the course materials. In addition to teaching classes, I've also administered video interviews with the children for their parents. At The Forest, I love working with children and creatively teaching English in ways that stimulate, educate and entertain my pupils. While I had a great deal of experience caring for children as an aunt to seven nieces and nephews, I've learned so much about working with and caring for children as an educator. I find that working with children is both challenging and incredibly rewarding because it affords me the chance to see my students develop and grow with a language I love. I've enjoyed my time teaching in Ulsan immensely and I look forward to striving, growing and meeting new challenges as an educator in the future.
