Supporting Information
Why do you want to teach overseas?:
I would like to experience different ways of learning and methods of education in my teaching career. I strongly believe that a good way to do this is through taking the initiative to "jump right in" and put yourself into a first hand position where you are exposed to such new experiences. I enjoy travelling as well as learning and I see teaching very much as a learning experience- always learning how I can be a better teacher, communicate more effectively and continuously strive to bring students what the need and deserve as best I can.
Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:
Coming from a British family, growing up in Switzerland, studying in the US and since then moving regularly I have plenty of experience with different countries, different and different cultures. I have a first hand experience in adapting to many different places and with that I feel that I have an insight into some of the ways in which people in different countries are very different in their ways of life and ways of being. I have a deep respect for that and believe in observing and honouring the cultures of the people and the places I experience in my travels. In addition to living in and visiting many different countries I was lucky enough to attend an international school and this has helped to shape my life and continually inspires me in that I have seen how strong we can be when we strive to understand and support different people and cultures surrounding us.
Additional Information:
I have plenty of experience with children of all different ages. Having worked with children from 3 months-13 years I am comfortable with a large age range and look forward to experiencing working with older children too. I speak french and have previous experience working with ESL french students on reading skills. I also have experience with special needs children.
