Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

I am currently working as an English Teacher in South Korea. I genuinely love my job, and I get real satisfaction as I watch my kids grow in confidence as their English skills improve. Overall, I feel teaching is a highly important career. In my opinion, a good teacher not only encourages learning through the creation of fun and engaging activities, but also injects their own personality and passions into lessons, along with acting as a role model for students. Working and living in South Korea has been an eye opening experience. I have fallen in love with the culture, food and people, and would like to continue my adventure at a new school.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

Throughout this year teaching, and during my TEFL, I have gained experience delivering lessons in the four major areas of language learning: speaking, listening, reading and writing. I always aim to create a stimulating and learning focussed classroom environment, that is also relaxed and fun. I particularly enjoy teaching the younger children by incorporating storybooks, songs and games into class, and older children through the inclusion of activities with a task based approach.

As a Biology graduate, I have also gained skills transferable to a teaching position. Effective communication has been important throughout my studies. I have had to present new concepts to a diverse audience, including non-experts. Additionally, studying in the Netherlands gave me the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse range of students across many different cultures, enhancing my cultural sensitivity. Along with this, high workloads have improved my resilience to stress, and I work calmly and to the best of my ability under pressure. Moreover, as someone passionate about Science and Geography, it would be particularly exciting incorporating aspects of my subjects into English lessons to facilitate learning and create some variety!
