Why do you want to teach overseas?:

Having recently graduated with a First Class Honours degree in BA Korean from the School of Oriental and African Studies in London, I now hope to challenge myself and experience Korea from a new perspective by working in a professional environment and teaching English to Korean students. I believe that teaching in Korea will be a fulfilling way for me to spend a year working before I continue with further Korea-related academic study, and I look forward to utilising my skills to encourage and support Korean students in their English language studies.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

As I have devoted a significant part of my academic career to learning languages, my experiences as a language learner will enable me to identify and be more empathetic towards the needs of language students. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with people in an academic environment at university, and the communication and interpersonal skills that I developed there are a key advantage that I can transfer into a classroom setting. In school I had the responsibility of mentoring a younger transfer student to help them prepare for and obtain a high grade in their French language exam, which involved giving guidance and corrections on their grammar and pronunciation, allowing me to develop confidence and patience in my role as mentor. Additionally, my Korean language proficiency and cultural familiarity with Korea will enable me to confidently adapt to my new surroundings and workplace.
