Work Experience

Position

Job title: Teaching Assistant
Employer: Ministery of Madrid
Date of employment: September 2019 – Current
Summary of role:

I have worked in 2 schools in Spain as a teaching assistant where my role has varied. My first school was more of a helper role where I would work in groups with the children to help them improve their English reading, writing and pronunciation skills. My second school, which I am at now, is more of a hands on teaching role, where I am the primary teacher who leads the class with another teacher present to help if any behavioural problems arise.

Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

Before coming to Spain on a whim I had never considered being a teacher but after spending almost three years teaching I have came to realise that it is something I am passionate about and I would love to pursue further (going to university) in the future. I enjoy working with children and it is something I would like to experience in many countries all over the world.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

I believe that I am a suitable candidate for teaching overseas as it is something that I already have experience in. I am also open to new cultures and like to constantly learn new things which is important when you are going to a new country. I believe that being open-minded is a great strength of mine as it allows me to assimilate to other countries and cultures.

Additional information:

Although it is not something that would be a strength in South Korea, I came to Spain without any knowledge of the language and I am now currently a B2/C1 level speaker, I think this shows that I am determined to learn about the country in which I am living.
