Work Experience

Position

Job title: Sales Assistant
Employer: GAME
Date of employment: July 2019 – June 2022
Summary of role:

My work as a sales assistant covered a lot of different roles. Above everything I helped customers with their problems and helped others with information and advice about games, products and presents for children. I also helped the manager with any kind of problem they had. I often volunteered to help in any way I could – price changes, learning new systems, managing stock, contacting customers over the phone, organizing work loads and anything else you can imagine. I left on good terms with my manager. I was definitely considered a confident and conversational employee.

Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

Several of my friends have told me about their time teaching overseas and they all loved it. I considered taking the leap of faith a while ago but I never found the confidence. With the way everything is changing, it put the world into perspective for me. I would be missing out on a great opportunity if I stopped experiencing anything more than my home country. I have a desire to give something valuable to people, to be there to encourage people in their learning. I want to work with people over something good, to give them something they can use to widen their world. It’s a mutual experience. I’m excited to teach people English.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

I pay attention to people. I don’t want to simply recite English, I want to collaborate and encourage people to learn. I want to share that moment when they get the answer right or when the idea connects with them and they gain an understanding. I don’t leave people to deal with problems on their own. Their success is my success. It’s an instinct. To help, to explain and share with people, it motivates me. People just need attention to learn.

Additional information:

I have a few friends who English was not their first language and I have volunteered to help them with important documents using English – mainly adding corrections and alterations etc. I believe they were happy with their results.
