Work Experience

Position

Job title: English Teacher (online)
Employer: Landi
Date of employment: 07/2017 – present (contract expires 12/2018)
Summary of role:

I currently teach English online, part-time Monday to Friday (three teaching hours a day) to children ages 4-14 in China. I worked for a short period as a regular teacher teaching classes following the Landi syllabus (levels pre-Elementary and Elementary Level 1), but at present I work as an Experience Teacher, giving lessons to potential Landi students who want to sample the classes on offer.

Position

Job title: English Teacher
Employer: Perfect English Language School
Date of employment: 09/2016 – 06/2017
Summary of role:

I taught evening classes part-time to both adult learners and to teenagers. In my adult classes I taught mostly conversational English, but I also taught absolute beginners. My teenage classes were focused on exam preparation, with the majority of my students preparing for either the ECCE or the ECPE.

Position

Job title: Visiting History Tutor
Employer: History Department, Royal Holloway, University of London
Date of employment: 09/2015 – 09/2016
Summary of role:

I taught part-time on the first year undergraduate course entitled “Gods, Men, and Power: An Introduction to Ancient History”. Additionally, I met students both in class and during office hours, and marked the essays they submitted for the course.

Position

Job title: Climbing Instructor
Employer: Queen’s University Belfast Physical Education Centre
Date of employment: 10/2010 – 05/2012
Summary of role:

Here, I instructed children’s climbing courses part-time for children between the ages of six and fifteen with a range of different abilities. Additionally I worked with School groups, on Birthday parties, taster sessions and school holiday sports schemes.

Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

I’ve been teaching English part-time for a while now and I would like to try teaching full-time. I have immensely enjoyed teaching English on-line for the last year and a half, but I am keen to get back to classroom based teaching. I have lived abroad within Europe before and now I would like to try farther afield. I would like to teach in Korea specifically as I have been learning the Korean language for a few years now and I would like to live and teach in a Korean environment.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

I have taught overseas for a short period before and I am keen to do so again. I enjoy language learning myself and I think I can bring this passion to young learners.

Additional information:

I am required to be in Britain for my sister’s wedding on 20th April. I would like to request that I have enough holiday off around this date in order to travel back to the United Kingdom to attend this wedding.

I would also prefer a Monday to Friday schedule.
