Work Experience

Position

Job title: Spanish Teacher
Employer: Futura Language Professionals
Date of employment: January 2019
Summary of role:

At Futura I will be responsible for teaching Spanish to a class of 15 elementary schoolers. Futura prepares the lesson plans for me, but I am responsible for carrying out the lesson plan in English and Spanish.

Position

Job title: English Teacher
Employer: Comunidades Latinas Unidas en Servicio (CLUES)
Date of employment: September 2018 – present
Summary of role:

At CLUES, I am responsible for my classroom. My class consists of 10 non-Native English speakers who come from Central and South America as well as the Caribbean. Each week I create a lesson plan, incorporating activities for speaking, listening, reading, and writing, and present it to the class.

Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

Teaching overseas would be a great opportunity for me as well as my students. I believe I have a solid foundation in my teaching and can really make an impact on students, no matter their background, and traveling to Asia, meeting new people, and getting more experience teaching would benefit me in numerous ways.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

I have plentiful experience working with communities that I don’t personally belong to (such as the Latinx, Hmong, and Somali community in Minneapolis) and I do well working with new communities. I am passionate about education and equipping younger generations with skills that will push them forward in life.
