Work Experience

Position

Job title: English Teacher
Employer: New England, Foreign Language Center
Date of employment: 29th of October – 8th December 2018
Summary of role:

I would make plans for each lesson every week, building them around the interests of my students whilst building my own knowledge of the country by pulling on their knowledge. We would play games utilising pictures, worksheets that allowed them to put the words and English skills that they had acquired into practise. I was encouraged to share my own interests and become friends with my students.

Position

Job title: English Teacher
Employer: BSMI and Anglo Continental
Date of employment: July – September 2018
Summary of role:

I would plan and give lessons, utilising outside resources and pulling on interests and curiosities that my students would have about both the English language and people. I would often be correcting grammar and spelling mistakes after assigning them exercises and playing games that would allow for them to use the English that they would have learned.

Position

Job title: Assembly Line worker
Employer: Lush: Gifts Department
Date of employment: October – December 2017
Summary of role:

I had to handle stock in a fast paced environment, make split second judgements on the quality and quantity of said stock, ensure that health and safety conditions were maintained and fulfil orders to the standard expected of Lush as well as work as part of a team.

Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

I want to teach overseas for two main reasons. I adore the English language and the literary creations that it has created and, because of that, I want to spread my knowledge of them to all of the students that I can possibly reach. I also adore seeing new places and if I am allowed to set my own pace, I want to take in everything about them that I can learn. I want my students to learn from me just as much as I do from them because I believe that is what makes for a brilliant teacher.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

Given preparation time and the proper guidance, I am able to adjust to almost any situation that can be placed in front of me but there is more than that. I am not only able to learn but I want to learn. I want to perfect the craft of teaching and even develop my own techniques. Should any of my students want to follow me into this profession, I want to be able to guide them as best I can so that they can continue from where I leave off.

Additional information:

Travelling to South Korea will be the furthest that I have ever been from home on my own and whilst I will be able to handle such a change, I ask that you remain patient and understanding with me until I am able to find my feet and begin to move on my own. I trust that I will be given support and that is truly all I can ask for from an employer.

Thank you.
