Work Experience

Position

Job title: Assistant Manager
Employer: Taylors of Oxford
Date of employment: 2011 – 2013
Summary of role:

During my two gap years prior to university, I worked my way up at Taylors of Oxford Delicatessen from waitress to assistant manager. This role included leading teams of up to 8 people at a time, working with cash and banking duties, maintaining health and safety regulations, monthly stock take, working with food and drink and providing excellent customer service.

Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

I have a passion for travelling, meeting new people from different countries and backgrounds, learning new languages and immersing myself in foreign cultures and traditions. I have spent most of my life abroad in various countries and am always looking for a new opportunity to experience different cultures and ways of life. Although I have never had any paid teaching jobs, I have undertaken various voluntary positions teaching English as a second language, as well as French and Greek. I think I would thrive in a teaching environment abroad and it would give me the opportunity to build upon my language skills and teaching experience.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

I have already lived, studied and volunteered abroad and understand the challenges we face when living in a new and different country with foreign customs and traditions. I think that teaching abroad would give me a good chance to offer my English language skills to those learning it as a foreign language.
