Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

Originating from an international background, I have been lucky enough to have travelled widely and have learnt a great deal from each experience. Post University, I would love to utilise the skills learnt from my degree and participate in this programme, dedicated to educating young people and sharing of cultural knowledge and experience.

While I have travelled widely, across North America, North Africa and the Middle East, I have not had the opportunity to travel to East Asia and would love to do so. I have always been fascinated by Eastern Asian culture and have tried to learn as much first-hand knowledge as possible: from asking cousins who speak Mandarin and Cantonese; to learning from Chinese and Japanese children whilst working at Regent Summer Schools (an International Summer Camp).

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

I am an approachable, enthusiastic and highly motivated individual who would love the opportunity to work with your organisation. Throughout previous work experience placements, I have always enjoyed working with children and connecting with new and diverse groups.

Apart from my academic qualifications I have a broad range of extra-curricular and outdoor interests, including playing the piano (to Grade 5 standard), cycling, hiking and trekking. In sport I have represented my University and previous schools at hockey, netball and swimming. Also, as a ‘Culture Editor’ and ‘Copy Editor’ for Cardiff University Student Media, I would be interested in sharing my experiences abroad (please see my LinkedIn Profile for examples of my work).

Previous references have described me as “personable” and as having an “excellent work ethic” and I am confident that my positive, active and outgoing personality will make me an asset to your organisation.
