Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

I am interested specifically in Korea because there is so much talent that comes from that country, especially in video games and Esports. Because my roots are in intercultural education, it is my hope to learn as much about Korean culture and language while I am over there.

I have traveled, studied, and worked abroad in Europe, but I have never visited Asia. The only experience I have with Korean culture is working with international exchange students at my university and in the professional gaming industry. I sought this program out because I want the challenge of living and thriving in Seoul.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

I have taught all age groups k-12 and adults. My cumulative teaching experience is around 3 years, and I am currently working towards earning my TEFL certificate. I believe that my experience teaching, both abroad and in the USA, would make me a suitable candidate for this position. Aside from my experience, I value learning and growth. That is something I look for in every one of my opportunities. I am going into this with an open mind and heart, and I look forward to the things that I am going to learn through this experience.

Additional information:

Working with international students is something that flipped a switch with me during my undergraduate studies. I initially wanted to be a performer and was pursuing a degree in music. Through music I traveled internationally for the first time and caught the bug. I looked for any and every opportunity to get back overseas.

A summer business program in western France taught me that I had skills in more than just music. I changed my major and university because of that trip, and I pursued a degree in Public Relations while minoring in French. In the years following, I interned at an acting academy in Dublin, Ireland and volunteered in Nuremberg, Germany at an opera festival.

When it wasn’t possible for me to travel, I was extremely involved in my university’s International Education Center. I served as a primary contact for all incoming international students, and I did everything I could to make them feel warm, welcome, and happy! I also helped American students find study abroad programs that best fit their academic studies, financial situation, and personal interests. It was one of the funnest jobs I have ever had, and the only reason I resigned is because I started teaching and earning a master’s degree.

I really look forward to learning more about your opportunities, and I hope to hear from you soon!

Kind regards!
