Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

I want to teach overseas because English has become a global language and I want to help others be able to communicate effectively in it. I have seen firsthand how not knowing English can be a hindrance to receiving higher education or better job prospects, and I want to help others, especially children and college-aged students, succeed. I also have a passion for traveling, learning about new cultures, and understanding the ways in which we are different and yet the same.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

I taught English for one year to Tibetan refugees in northern India. My classes were based on the Tibetan school levels, so in one class I would have a student who grew up with English and another who could barely answer basic questions. I had to think on my feet a lot and make the information engaging. I love the English language and all its quirks, and I like having fun. I love writing stories and sharing them with people. I also love encouraging others to share their own stories.
