Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

I have a passion for helping others and learning from communities and cultures unique from my own. Teaching abroad will allow me to live in a diverse environment and learn about a new culture and expand my knowledge of the world. I am very excited to be able to work with kids from unique cultural backgrounds and be able to help, excite, and motivate them to learn english in fun and creative ways.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

Diversity and culture have been a huge passion of mine and part of my life over the past five years. I volunteered with my university for one week in Atlanta, Georgia through Friends of Refugees where I mentored a class of over 30 Children from over 10 countries. This experience allowed me experience in teaching reading English books, helping students with homework, and play games and activities to make students feel like part of a community. At my university I was an International Orientation Leader where I guided students throughout the week of orientation with great enthusiasm to ensure they felt at home. I also prepare students for the upcoming semester while helping them adjust to a new culture and lifestyle. I was later offered a leadership role to train incoming orientation leaders and teach them how to enthusiastically welcome students from all over the world. Finally, I was a member of my university’s International Student Club where I engage with a diverse group of students through a variety of team building and ice breaker activities. I also investigated the 15+ cultures and countries of fellow group members while maintaining a safe environment for diversity as well as informing the local and campus community of the beauty of the student members cultures and countries to form unity and acceptance.
