Why do you want to teach overseas?:

Dear Future Employer,

I am interested in applying for TEFL teaching positions abroad, preferably in Asia. Being a British-born national of Asian descent, I have always been intrigued by Asia. My love for travelling further enhances my desire to teach and explore Asia. I am eager to immerse myself in the culturally diverse and historically rich continent and taste all the different flavoursome dishes each country has to offer.

A reason I would like to teach abroad is because of the incredible opportunity of building new relationships especially, with the locals and the children I teach. I also want to learn from them too. I look forward to understanding and learning more of the culture, language, abilities and perspectives within Asia. Teaching in a new environment with unique experiences and new challenges, will provide me with personal insight into my continuing self-development and allow me to develop into an even better person.
While studying International law, I was educated on the laws that protect children, such as United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. The convention underlines all the rights every child is entitled to. Article 28 of the Convention stresses the importance of education, that it should be available to every child. I completely agree with this, access to an education provides children with further knowledge and skills to fulfil their dreams. The reason I want to teach children is to deliver students with an education that ensures that they are equipped with skillset to accomplish whatever they desire. Additionally, it is widely recognised by Asian children, that speaking English unlocks many world-wide future opportunities. Therefore, I would like to teach English in Asia to facilitate my students into unlocking more opportunities for themselves. I want to make a positive difference in every child I teach and inspire my students to broaden their horizons and their endeavours.
The younger generation are our future, so it is important to help them prosper. Without education, it would not be possible for children to become the future leaders, innovators and reformers. As a teacher in Asia, I can empower, inspire, assist and support my students to follow their aspirations. I hope you give me the opportunity to follow this dream. Please look at my attached CV for your consideration.

Kind regards,
Anushka Dave

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

I think I would be a suitable candidate for teaching overseas because of the teaching experience I already possess. From private tutoring, being a teaching assistant and through Scouts and Summer Camp, I have experience in working with children of all different ages, from the age of 5 onwards. I adjust my teaching style, mannerisms and lessons according to my student’s level of understanding. I was able to create a safe and comfortable yet fun environment for the children. I managed this, by creating interactive activities and safeguarding them from any potential health and safety issues that could arise. I would be suitable candidate because I genuinely care about the wellbeing of the children I teach. I am passionate in ensuring that I provide a positive impact to people I encounter including students, work colleagues and neighbours.
Additionally, as a private tutor and teaching assistant, I built positive and productive relationships with the students. I know I will dedicate my time and recourses in ensuring that I create a good relationship with the students I teach. I also think I would be suitable because I am dedicated, motivated and hard working. I managed to become a certified mindfulness instructor and qualify as a 180 hours TEFL instructor while surviving a 3 hour commute every day and working full time from 9am to 6:30 pm.
Coming from two different cultures, I have always been open minded and interested in learning more about the other different cultures. My parents have always taught me to respect peoples’ opinions and beliefs even if I did not agree nor understand them. I am suitable because I would always respect all students’ beliefs and practices.
