Work Experience

Position

Job title: Assistant Manager
Employer: NewGen Creative
Date of employment: 2018
Summary of role:

While at NewGen Creative I worked mainly as a designer and worked on VR educational experiences for the workplace, VR game prototypes, photogrammetry and mobile games. I worked independently, contributing as they transitioned from traditional media services to interactive services.

Position

Job title: Assistant Manager
Employer: Grainger Games Ltd.
Date of employment: 2014 – 2017
Summary of role:

I moved into an assistant manager role at Grainger Games because I wanted something fresh to challenge myself with. I learned a lot about working with a team and general management duties in the role. I eventually left because I found working in retail unfulfilling and wanted to return to my studies in game design.

Position

Job title: Supervisor
Employer: CEX Ltd.
Date of employment: 2008 – 2014
Summary of role:

I started as a sales assistant at CEX as a way to get some money while studying at sixth form but while there I grew and after getting my A-levels ended up staying on before working my way up to a supervisor position. I learned a lot here about the importance of the many cogs that help to keep a team running and had to manage the shops day to day needs such as keeping on top of sales, merchandising, creating a rota, testing hardware being traded into the store, in store ecommerce and staff morale, all in the pursuit of delivering good customer service and hitting key performance indicators.

Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

I’ve always wanted to live abroad, upon completion of my degree it seemed like a good time in my life to push myself to do something that I had never done before. I think teaching in an incredible important job and if I can do my best to help students achieve their best, while living abroad then I consider it an amazing opportunity. Korea is top of my list because of it’s monumental rise as a country and I think I can help students to learn English.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

I believe that I have the necessary skills to help students achieve great things. I believe my experience working in retail and working as part of teams to make video games have given me a lot of transferable skills and I’m confident I can adapt to teaching. I’ve some past experience in class rooms and I’ve completed my online TEFL degree. I have a lot to learn if I’m going into a new culture and a new profession but I know that and I’m not afraid to give me all to something that I believe in.
