Work Experience

Position

Job title: English Teacher
Employer: Dussmann Kulturkindergarten
Date of employment: Nov 15, 2018-Sept 30, 2019
Summary of role:

As a native English speaker and TEFL certificate-holder, I was placed in a bilingual class of 3 and 4 year olds to encourage speaking English on an everyday basis, through games, books, songs, activities and special excursions such as field trips. Because of the kindergarten’s emphasis on all things “culture,” I promoted English through lots of art, music and theatre activities, as well as introducing the kids to various cultures around the world.

Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

I left my native country two years ago seeking adventure, and have discovered it in the unlikeliest of places: the classroom! The privilege to combine my two loves, travel and teaching, allows me to build on my past experiences in a whole new setting. I would be thrilled for the opportunity to expand my overseas teaching in Asia, in order to broaden my horizons, strengthen my classroom skills, and discover a brand new culture.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

I believe that with kindness and an open spirit, any teacher can not only adapt but thrive in an overseas teaching environment, and I have these two qualities in spades! I put a lot of work into ensuring my students receive encouragement, constructive criticism, and a teaching environment that promotes learning. I am also a flexible and curious traveler, I listen more than I speak, and seize every opportunity to dive deeper in my host culture.
