Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

I am an extremely sociable, hardworking, reliable and time efficient individual. I have studied Mandarin Chinese for the last ten years and speak the language fluently. Since the beginning of my language learning journey I have become obsessed with learning and understanding new cultures. After a year abroad in China, studying at Beijing Normal University, I am qualified HSK Level 5. I also studied Korean as part of my university degree and would say that my skills are TOPIK 3 Intermediate level. Since this time I have visited Korea twice and I am now keen to combine my passions for teaching and language learning. I am a well-qualified, knowledgeable language teaching and learning expert with ample experience of teaching not only English but also Chinese across a broad spectrum of environments internationally. I enjoy interacting with people, I love to share my enthusiasm and energy.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

During my time studying abroad in Beijing, I had several opportunities teaching English privately and throughly enjoyed the experience. I was also Head Boy of my Sixth Form college and provided mentoring to younger students. I feel this was influential to both their lives and my own. As their behaviour greatly improved and I developed a great sense of care for younger children. I also have work experience teaching Chinese to local primary school students which further fueled my passion for language teaching. As a university ambassador I provide guided tours of the university, run language workshops and study skills sessions tailored to university students and prospective students. Additionally I provide mentoring for other students.

Additional information:

I have taken part in numerous drama productions, which have not only improved my confidence but also my ability to work efficiently and perform comfortably as part of a team. I have also been part of several dance companies from the age of 13. I am now the president of my university dance society. Not only do these skills allow me to bring a more interactive element to my teaching style which is particularly useful when working with younger children, they also demonstrate my commitment and dedication to any organisation.
