Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

Although I have had no formal teaching experience, I have multiple related work experiences. During my time in university as a mentor/ambassador I visited a local secondary school every week to have one-on-one sessions discussing things such as progress to higher education with my mentees and providing subject help. Together with my fellow mentors we also led self-planned lessons where we covered topics such as budgeting at universities and confidence building sessions.
I also spent last summer as a Camp counsellor in America and had the most rewarding summer of my life. This time made me realise I want to carry on working with children. During my time at camp I worked with fellow counsellors from all around the world. It was so interesting learning about each other’s cultures.
As part of my job as a camp counsellor I taught bible studies every day. I really enjoyed coming up with new ways to make the sessions interesting and engaging, such as incorporating extra games or getting the children to come up with and act out a skit based on a particular theme. I enjoy this approach to teaching, and I think that my creativity could be useful in making English lessons exciting.
As for why I want to teach in Korea specifically I have always been interested in new cultures and history. Two of the counties on the top of my list were America (a goal I accomplished last year) and South Korea (where I hope to go this year). I would love to settle in South Korea for a number of reasons such as the food, the rich blend of old and new culture and the language.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

I think the experiences throughout in my short working life mentioned above have prepared me to teach English as a foreign language and also to be able to adapt to and appreciate other cultures.
