Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

Teaching overseas is a fantastic way to experience a culture that is totally different from your own. I am motivated to meet different people, share ideas, and make friends. I am also heavily motivated by the development of students and watching them grow, learn, and develop.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

My first classroom teaching experience was with one of the top training schools in Beijing, China, at a Kids and Teens Centre. Here I became a band 2 teacher in my first five months of teaching, I became the first international teacher in the centre’s history to conduct demo classes and took the role as the technical and IT specialist. I then became the Director of Studies of my second company in China. To this date, I have 18 months of teaching experience.

I particularly enjoyed working with at-risk children. My careful preparation of lessons allowed me to break down complicated concepts to simple examples that my young students could grasp, which was rewarding for both my students and me.

Teaching in China so far I have learnt the skills such as managing the difference of abilities among my students which proved difficult, but gratifying, challenge. I tailored activities to maintain the interest of high-level students without intimidating less-skilled English speakers.
