Why do you want to teach overseas?:

All my life I have had a passion for education and helping others learn. As an Englisher teacher, I am able to help students learn a language that can have a tremendous impact on their life. I want to teach at a language school in South Korea for two reasons. I am passionate about transforming lives through English education. I also have strong deep appreciation of Korean culture. As someone who has been studying your history, language and culture for many years, being able to combine my passion for teaching with my passion for South Korean culture makes me very excited.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

For the past year, I have been teaching English online to young students based in China with GOGOKID. I have created an engaging and effective teaching environment online. I have received hundreds of five star reviews and comments from parents, such as “ Hannah is a great teacher! She has a good balance between course material and other interesting extension!” This year of teaching experience has taught me how to work with children of all levels, including those under 5 years old.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from DePaul University. Through my degree, I understand the intricacies of communication and language that are essential to learning English. I am also certified in teaching English as a Foreign Language through the International TEFL Academy. While at the International TEFL Academy, I taught ESL students from Beginners to Advanced Levels. I created original lesson plans for all classes.. I learned how to control and engage a classroom, how to work with struggling students, and how to teach to a wide range of proficiency levels.

I studied abroad my first semester my freshman year in London, United Kingdom. This was my first experience every leaving the United States, but I was able to flourish and travel across Europe with making the Dean’s List. I returned to London to continue studying for my junior year of university as well. I thrive in new environments and with new challenges. I was a leader within my sorority in university, and regularly had to lead and communicate with hundreds of students at once. These experiences throughout university will be instrumental in my ability to be an effective teacher in South Korea.
