Work Experience

Position

Job title: ESL Teacher
Employer: EF English First
Date of employment: October 2019 – present
Summary of role:

My role at EF is varied and calls for me to be very flexible. A normal day will begin with lesson planning, followed by classes. I aim to make my classes engaging using a mixture of methods to keep my students attentive and entertained. Interactive materials, songs, and games are a few examples of these. My other roles in the company include oral placement tests, I will assess a prospective students level of English and place them in the correct class for their level. Demo classes for prospective students are also often on my schedule, in this, I give a ‘mini’ lesson to younger prospective students and their parents. Communication with the teaching team is key to the running of the school, to achieve this I can confidently produce presentations, be an active communicator, and create plans of actions for students to continue progressing.

Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

My main goal when first relocating to teach overseas was to experience other cultures and other nations’ histories, whilst starting a career I had no experience in, albeit masses of interests. I now wish to relocate to South Korea again, immerse myself in another culture, but now to expand on my abilities as a teacher in a role that will allow me to create fun and engaging lessons.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

On a personal level, I am a reliable, patient, and flexible person. In my own experience, this has served me well in my career as a teacher to date. On a professional level, I have a particular interest in early learners, having expanded my qualifications to include TKT’s in early learners as well as efficient lesson plans. Making continuous effort into ensuring I have the resources, qualifications, and methods into creating a classroom environment that provides students with the skills they need to become successful in their studies.
