Why do you want to teach overseas?:

I have always been interested in teaching and felt TEFL was a great opportunity to dedicate time to this and learn more. Throughout my TEFL course, I have been able to practice teaching including planning my own lesson and presenting this in front of a room of 15+ people. I am currently enrolled on modules including grammar and methodology which has provided me with a further understanding of the English language and the principles of teaching which displays the various approaches which can be undertaken to teach English to students. This has allowed me to gain a hands-on experience and provided me with the confidence and ability to teach learners of the English language and has further pushed my enjoyment of wanting to teach as I have thoroughly enjoyed my experience throughout my TEFL course.

I have travelled to Korea multiple times and have gained a large appreciation for the culture, language and country itself and would be grateful for the opportunity to learn more about the culture and country and be able to gain a more in-depth understanding. I am also currently studying Korean with a personal tutor, I am currently at beginner level but look to continue and improve my studies.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

My work experiences have connected me to people of all backgrounds and I am familiar with helping people daily throughout my current role. During my current role I speak to a range of people on a daily basis to help with problems that they may sometimes not understand, therefore having to find ways and opportunities to best help and explain to them. I speak to a large amount of customers whose first language is not English who therefore need further support and patience when their queries are being dealt with also. Furthermore, I have experience working as a team leader and teaching new starters in a classroom setting, presenting to them how the banking industry works and language used within the business. I also run weekly huddle sessions within my team where I present to them updates within the company. I am very comfortable presenting and being in front of groups of people and have experience presenting in front of both small and large groups of people, gaining experience through university and my work experience to be able to present to a broad range of different age groups.

With my large interest in the country of Korea and teaching as well as my current concentration in my existing job role of helping a diverse range of people each day, I hope to put my interest and skills gained to help teach young learners in Korea to become more capable with the English language which is becoming increasingly more valuable each day.
