Summary of role:

As a prison officer to manage the security and wellbeing of the establishment, the residents, staff, visitors and the public. As a programmes facilitator to run group programmes based in cognitive behavioural therapy techniques, to other residents. This would be about 4-5 groups per week. As well as delivering the programmes there included substantial preparation time for each session.

Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

I have always wanted to experience different cultures, I feel living in that country is the best way to do that. Whilst I have not been a teacher myself a programmes facilitator is not far off teaching. Being a programmes facilitator you need to be engaging and get the group participants to buy in to that and to also get involved. I found this incredibly rewarding when this would happen.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

I am used to rolling with resistance, engaging and getting buy in from some of the most challenging individuals. I am an incredibly hard worker who takes great pride in whatever task they do. I have lived abroad briefly before and I found it incredibly exciting.
