Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

I’ve been interested in teaching ever since doing work experience at a primary school as a teenager: I loved the satisfaction that I got working with young learners, and having spent just over a year working in a corporate, office-based role in advertising I’ve been dying to get back to something a little more hands on.

Visiting countries such as Kenya and Turkey has given me a love of immersing myself in other cultures, and I’m very keen to use any opportunity I have to live and work in a different country, with a particular interest in East Asia.

Finally, having recently graduated with Distinction from the University of Warwick with an MA in English Literature, I’m looking for a role that will allow me to capitalise on my passion for and knowledge of the English language by passing it forward to a new generation of learners.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

With an MA in English Literature from the University of Warwick and a First in the same subject from the University of Glasgow, my academic record stands as testament to my detailed understanding of the nuances of the English language. I have also written theatre reviews for the arts magazine The Skinny, and during my time at university served as a section editor for two university magazines. Each of these required me to be precise and accurate in my use of English, and I regularly worked with students with weaker English to develop their writing – a process I found to be one of the most satisfying aspects of these positions.

Outside of university, my work experience demonstrates my spoken communication skills and my ability to adapt to new situations. Whether leading a team through busy night shifts Subway, working closely alongside colleagues in my current role at Global, a major advertising company, or joining teams as a temp and being expected to hit the ground running, I’ve always been able to quickly adapt to new colleagues and environments with a positive attitude and a smile on my face.
