Work Experience

Position

Job title: Language and Culture Assistant
Employer: Community of Madrid
Date of employment: October 2020-Present
Summary of role:

As a Language and Culture Assistant I worked with non-native English students aged four to fifteen years old. I created lesson plans and led the classroom. Additionally, I worked with students in small groups and one-on-one. I curated exam questions, graded assignments and gave speaking tests. This experience strengthened my teaching skills such as patience, empathy, leadership and guidance.

Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

I highly value intercultural experience. Living and working in Asia would allow me to submerge myself in a foreign culture while giving back to the community in which I am placed. Traveling has taught me the importance of the English language, as it is often the language used between two non-native speakers.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

I’ve lived overseas for the past two years, so I am familiar with the demands and benefits of being submerged in a foreign culture. I highly value to opportunity to live in foreign country and learn about another country. I am open-minded and flexible. Finally, I have experience working with ESL students.
