Job title: English Coach
Employer: Poliglota
Date of employment: 01/01/2022 – present
Summary of role:

Facilitate online English sessions with adults from Latin American countries (Chile, Mexico and Venzuela). Job title: Tutorial Group Facilitator
Employer: University of Cape Town
Date of employment: March 2022 – present
Summary of role:

Facilitate tutorial sessions that are structured similarly to psychotherapeutic groups. I work in the Department of social development, alongside 10 other tutors, to deliver tutorial sessions for 24 first-year and 24 second-year undergraduate students. My tasks are to regularly assess assignments, provide educational support to students, identifying student’s challenges and providing support and options to resolve any issues.

Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

I have a huge passion for empowering people and an even greater passion for languages. Teaching English allows me to fulfill my passion and contribute to the learning experience of those who need support in doing so. I would also like to be exposed to different cultures in the world and increase my cultural competence as a teacher and social worker.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

Not only does my qualification as a social worker aid me with essential skills to see the student’s thrive when learning English (skills like empathy, clarification, paraphrasing, summarising, use of open- and closed-ended questions, etc); but I also have a very strong commitment to seeing students thrive when they set goals and guide them on their journey to acquiring the English language. I have extensive knowledge in interpersonal relations and facilitating creative and formal groups – a classroom is a different space to put these skills to good use.

Additional information:

I would like the opportunity to contribute to the success of the students at your organisation. I definitely have the passion and skillset to add value to your team.
