Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

I beleive that art and culture help people learn to empathise with others. An important part of any culture is language. My hope, in teaching language oversees, is to help both others and myself see new perspectives. Allowing all of us to experience both a more beautiful world, but also a bigger one.

East Asia facinates me in particular because it is home to many of the oldest continuous cultures in the world. The cultural traditions of the area are full of wisdom, whilst very different from those present in my own upbringing. My long term ambition is to pursue a doctorate on the subject of cultural biases in international law. conseqeuently, interaction with different cultural traditions will alllow me to have a less miopic veiwpoint of the subject.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

I love both teaching and experiencing new things.

Since the age of 16 I have involved myself in youth groups and outreach programs. During 6th form (high school) I was involved with my schools tutoring project. Helping students pursuing their GCSEs and also helping a student struggling with some of the same courses as me. I also helped with: my local church’s and cub scouts, youth goups . Whilst, in university I did less I was involved with both the peer mentoring program and an outreach program.

Admittedly, I have no experience living abroad. However, I love trying new things and put my heart into everything I do. whether it is food or places i love experiencing new things. whilst, some times you don’t enjoy the experience of a new thing, there is always pleasure in the excitement of trying something new and learning a little more about yourself.
