Why do you want to teach overseas?:
With global economies and partnerships growing everyday, the rapidly increasing opportunities for travel and exploration, and the ever-advancing world of modern technology, human interaction is on an astronomical trajectory. Teaching abroad is a mutually rewarding experience that would allow me to both benefit from and contribute to this expansion in international social connection. To be able to immerse myself in new cultures and perspectives, while also providing practical, life-long skills back into the community, would be an honor, a privilege, and an adventure unlike anything else.
Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:
My greatest assets as a candidate for teaching overseas is my personal passion for what I would be teaching, as well as the non-traditional skills that I bring from experiences outside of Western classroom teaching. I know from experience as a student myself that teachers with personal interest in a subject makes them a more engaged, attentive, and trustworthy instructor; I pride myself on bringing that personal passion, energetic enthusiasm, and bright humor to anywhere I work and live.
There is a great deal of nuance in language-learning that can be challenging for any student to recognize without expert guidance. For example, a letter to an international penpal and an e-mail to your boss are two subtly, but significantly, different texts, in terms of tone, syntax, and specific language. It can be difficult for language learners to grasp the technical and creative differences in any new language outside of their native one. My academic degree in creative writing, paired with my professional experience with technical writing in a myriad of environments, including corporate, government, and nonprofit, allows me to bring a suite of unique resources and teachings that extend beyond traditional classroom learning and provide my students with a more fluid and natural understanding of English for any occasion.
