Work Experience

Position

Job title: Learning Support Assistant
Employer: Options Barton, Outcomes First Group
Date of employment: November 2018-Present
Summary of role:

I currently work as a teaching assistant at Options, a school specialising in supporting children with Autism along with other physical disabilities and learning difficulties. I have worked in a caring role, providing personal care for those who require it, and supporting their education.
I am responsible for teaching English to the children in my class group, along with marking and organising their work and also creating some of the lesson plans.
In this role I have had a variety of training including Makaton, medication training and pool responder, along with the extensive training given for safeguarding, health and safety, communication and a wide number of other courses. This has been a huge learning opportunity for me as I have been able to explore and build my skills, mainly in communication and teamwork as this job requires a level of support from colleagues in dealing with challenging behaviours presented to us.
I personally feel that it is time for me to explore more opportunities relating to the degrees I have earned.

Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

I have always wanted to live and work abroad, I have always had a keen interest in learning new languages and about other cultures, and I feel that now is the right time in my life to follow my dreams to move and teach overseas.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

I am well qualified for the position of teaching abroad, and I am also very keen to learn more about other cultures and explore the world. I have a lot of experience working with children which I feel would give me an advantage in any teaching position as I am able to engage those who may be unmotivated to learn and can provide a positive educational experience.
I am bright and bubbly in the classroom and am excited about teaching my language.
