Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

I want to teach overseas (specifically Korea) because I feel like I could use a new challenge and a change of scenery. I have been a classroom teacher for 8 years and in the past year or so I have felt that I could do more or at least teach in some other capacity. I am not bored with my job at all; everyday presents new obstacles and I am still learning. However, I would like to try something new in the field of education. I’ve considered teaching at the college level as well, but in actuality, that may just be a different population I would be teaching. I wonder if my experience would be the same as in a 4th grade classroom. Teaching EFL I am certain would be rewarding just like my current job. I understand the popularity of the English language and the value that being proficient in it has. If I can help people in a different way, I believe I would feel quite satisfied.

As far as teaching in Korea, that would be a new challenge and a change of scenery. Of course, any country abroad would be different and new, but Korea has been at a high interest level in my household. My wife has become infatuated with the language and culture. It would be an opportunity to go on an adventure and still be able to pursue my teaching career. It would also allow my wife to pursue her fashion career abroad as well. She had worked with Korean vendors in her job here and would like to broaden her scope and abilities in Korea. She has also been learning Korean on her own for almost a year. To be immersed in a new culture and land would truly be an experience that we could cherish forever, and Korea would provide that experience better than most countries for us.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

I believe I am a suitable candidate because I am a seasoned educator who loves what he does, I have a supportive wife/partner/best friend who is dedicated and eager to go on this journey with me, I am still young and enthusiastic (at least I feel that way), we do not have children yet, no debt or issues to leave behind in American, and a perfect bill of health. I have never drank alcohol or smoked anything and I will never do so. This is the optimal time in my life to make this move, so I hope to be exactly what the schools/programs are looking for!

Additional information:

I am appreciative of any living space, as we have lived in a small studio with our dog before. The most important detail to me/us is getting to Korea!
