Work Experience

Position

Job title: Customer Service Supervisor
Employer: Nottingham Dirt Buggies
Date of employment: March 2013 – October 2017
Summary of role:

My daily roles included meeting and greeting customers, maintenance of safety equipment, supervising the sessions and ensuring all customers enjoyed themselves in a safe manner.

This job often included working with children, this was a very serious responsibility as my job was to ensure that they could operate the go karts, quad bikes and other motorised vehicles safely, this required me to be extremely patient as well as enthusiastic as I had to hold the children’s attention long enough to ensure they understood all of the instructions in order to keep them and others safe.

Position

Job title: Sales Adviser

My daily duties included assisting customers with any queries, prioritising tasks, organising the co-worker of the month for our department and most importantly maintaining a safe and enjoyable working environment.

Position

Job title: Transport Coordinator

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

There are multiple reasons why I’m interested in teaching in general, the first of which goes back to one of my first jobs, I was working at an outdoor activity centre that mainly included teaching children how to operate motor vehicles such as quad bikes, dirt buggies, etc, I found this to be a very rewarding experience. It could be challenging and stressful at times as their safety could have been at risk if I wasn’t able to communicate with them clearly. I often think back to when I had this job and remember how amazing it felt to witness them understanding what I was teaching and to see them enjoying themselves.

I believe that teaching would allow me to challenge myself and push myself further, which I hope will be a very rewarding experience, not just for me but for my students as well, as I have no doubt I’ll be learning as much from them as they will from myself.

The main reason I’m applying to teach overseas is that lately I’ve been seeking something different that my country can no longer provide, I’ve lived in the same city my entire life and I sincerely think I could benefit greatly from experiencing another culture, I’m hoping this will push me out of my comfort zone and enrich my life.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

I think I am a suitable candidate for teaching overseas because I am enthusiastic, I have experience to some extent in teaching children and I am patient, I understand that not all students will learn at the same rate, or with the same methods and I am prepared to adapt to what is needed on a case by case basis.

Patience and enthusiasm are key in regards to teaching effectively, especially with children as it is important to keep learning fun and engaging, otherwise the teacher loses their attention. I am aware that teaching anyone comes with its own challenges, however, I feel with my patience and enthusiasm I will be able to handle these complications in a professional and calm manner.

I believe the main reason I am a suitable candidate is not just my willingness to teach, but also my willingness to learn and adapt in order to teach to the best of my ability.
