Work Experience

Position

Job title: English Teacher
Employer: Dongguan Dalang Jiamei Experimental School
Date of employment: 1 September 2019- Current
Summary of role:

Currently I’m an English teacher, specialising in Oral English. I teach grade 2 and grade 5 classes. The average class size is around 44 learners. I have a teaching assistant in each class with me. I teach 40 minute classes, with a total of 22 classes per week. I also hold a weekly English Corner, where learners from grades 2 – grade 6 can attend (extra-curricular class), this class on average has around 40+ learners in attendance.

Supporting Information:

Why do you want to teach overseas?:

I love working with children and love to travelling and experiencing different cultures and way of life. I’m enjoying my current teaching experience immensely and feel like that I’ve grown and learnt so much already from being in a different place, engaging with people of a different background and culture to my own and being able to see and feel this for myself.

Why are you a suitable candidate for teaching overseas?:

I have a deep appreciation for different cultures and places. I myself have a culturally rich heritage, born in Poland (Europe) and having lived in South Africa (Africa) for the majority of my life. I’ve worked overseas before in Belgium and currently working in China. I’m open-minded, adaptable and have a heart and mind that’s open to embrace the people and place I’m based in.
